2008 in review, 2009 awaits

2008 in review

A little early for this post I know, but since I'm pretty much done for 2008, I'll go ahead and make it. 2008 was a break even year for me, but all in all I'm not too upset(also not very happy). I feel where I stand in my game today is far superior to where I was at the beginning of the year. A big part of this (truthful, not just a plug for the site) is CardsChat. Hours upon days of reading, chatting, analyzing(didnt do my fair share, more on this later), studying, railing, arguing, and all together having fun while improving my game got me a pretty good distance this year.

Tournament wise, I feel I greatly improved my game this year, and it is going to me my main focus point in 2009. Off the top of my head, I had ~15 final tables of 180 players or more(not nearly enough imo) and 4 wins. My favorite tournament runs this year are not my biggest cashes, but made for the best memories. One being the Sunday 200k where I finished top 100 I think(not sure, but somewhere very deep). Just getting that far in a field of 23k is an accomplishment in itself. Sure I would have liked to win, but I had a great time playing the tourney to that point. The other tourney was a recent one I took down on Full Tilt. I started the final table with one of the higher chip stacks, but a suckout left me with less than a single big blind. I have no clue how it happened, I guess just my will to win, but I came all the way back for the win.

In sit 'n' goes, I was a winner. Not a huge sum, but I profitted, and thats all that matters. I didnt get the kind of volume that I wished for, but thats ok, next year I will. I never did get a win on the Stars sng leaderboard, but that will be another goal.

Cash games. Well, what can I say, I suck. I might have pulled a very very very slight profit, but I know while taking shots at 10nl I was losing so bad my head was spinning and I was ready to rip my eyes out. This will be yet another focal point of 09.

The year as a whole, like I said earlier, I'm not upset, but I'm not happy either. I feel if I had more discipline than I do I would have a rather large bankroll at the time of this post. I have shitty bankroll management, and I need to get the fuck over it. On a lighter note, I did cash out more money than I deposited($120 total deposited, $1.5k withdrawn) so this I find a success.

Goals for 2009

New year on the way, and I am excited. This will be a breakout year for me, I'm going to do everything in my power to make sure it is. I feel that after 2008 I have a fair grasp on the game of poker, now its time to use it! I have a few(well, alot) of goals I would like to share with you all:

1.Bankroll Management-Like I said, this I feel is the only thing that held me back in 2008. I am a shitty brm player, and often find myself playing outrageous limits with a small bankroll. I feel if I had kept grinding, I would have had much more success(obv). Idk what kind of percentages of my roll I will set for certain games yet, but I'll be sure to update when I figure it out

2.Study, Study, and Study-I feel I have a good grasp on tournament poker right now, but by doing tons of studying I feel I can raise my game up several levels. I feel I only have small leaks in my game as of right now, once I find and fix them, watch out!

As for cash, LEARN THE GAME!!! It is very profitable, as shown by some of the CC regs. I do not feel I spent enough of 2008 trying to make a success out of this game, 09 I will definately make it a point to read hh's, comment on them, watch videos, post my own videos and hh's, and all around start crushing the game :)

I also want to make myself more of a presence in the HA(hand analysis) forums at CC. I feel I have a lot of tourney info I could share, but I feel there is much much more I could learn, the same goes for cash games. I have not done my fair share of this, and I will make it a point to do so in 2009

3. Cash games- I just stated my intentions to study, so I'm not going over that again. My goal for the year is to play 150k hands at the cash tables(I 6-8 table 6 max). I'm going to start my grind at 10nl, and hopefully end the year at 100nl. Another goal for cash games, STUDY MY ASS OFF!

4. Blogging-Ok ok, I know I let this blog completely die more than once, I'm going to work to fix this problems. At the minimum, I will be posting in this blog once a week, hopefully more. It shall die no more!

5. SNG leaderboard-This one has been a monkey on my back. I can never seem to crack the top 10, let alone get first place. In 2009, I want to have at least 3 wins, regardless of level

6. Sunday major tournaments-Another monkey on my back. If you know me and chat with me regularly, you know this has been eating me alive. I want to play in these on a regular basis so bad, this is going to be the year it happens. Weather it be by satty or just buying in directly, I'm going to be playing these a lot in 2009.

7. WCOOP/FTOPS- Prob not going to be buying into any directly, but definately want to satty into a few of the events! Some of the ones I would like to play are the NLHE's(obv), Limit Hold'em, HORSE, and Stud. Big cashes and big names in these, what a thrill it would/will be!

8. Tournaments and Sng's- My bread and butter. My favorite games :) I cant wait to see what 2009 has in store for me, but I'm feeling good about it! I'm going to make it a point find my leaks and correct them early in the year. By doing this I will maxamize my profit for the year :) Across all tourney types(mtt's, stt's, and sng's) I hope to play somewhere around 3k tourneys on the year, while making a solid ROI%. As stated above, I also hope to play in the Sunday majors and the WCOOP and FTOPS. I hope to have around 40 final tables, and obv some wins!

Those are my goals for the new year, I hope you can all tell I'm excited about it! Until next time!

Well I have shitty brm.

Well, since my last post I started playing buy ins that were wayyyy too large for my roll. It obv didnt go well, because I'm typing this right now lol. I still have a roll though, and am going to start working on brm again. Maybe this time I learned my lesson :(

Final table bubble, HORSE ring, and UGA vs Bama

So yesterday I decided to play a $16.50 HORSE with some fellow CC'ers, and I bubbled the final table :( I was absolutely killing the tourney before around 12 players left. I was chip leader from about 37 players left until 12. Then I started getting bad cards, making bad reads, and getting bad beats. I ended up getting sucked out on in O/8 to hit the rail. $45 for my efforts, but a second final table on the day would have been sweet :)

I have began to play HORSE ring games as well. I have played these before, but never really seriously. As of right now, variance is on my side. I hope it stays this way, because the game is REALLY soft and easy to beat. I'll keep you all updated on my progress in this, I'm hoping to turn it into a full time thing if it goes well.

As for UGA vs Bama, I think Bama wanting to cancel because of gas prices tells it all. UGA dominates in this one, 35-14 to go 5-0 on the year. The blackout is always awesome too!

Another final table

This one didnt last very long though. I was the short stack the entire time, and managed a 7th place finish for $101. Not bad for $2 investment or 5 hours work. All in all, I'm disappointed in my finish. I pushed a marginal hand in the end when I could have came back. O well I guess, there will be other tourneys for me to final table and win. This gives my roll a boost it needs though, so I can start playing bigger games :)

God, it has been forever

Ya, I'm still alive lol. Idk why I started not updating again, but I'm back, hopefully for good. This whole time I've still been playing poker, and actually getting some deep finishes and good cashes. A couple notable ones are going deep in the Sunday 200k, finished 198th for $217. Played a great game, but had the shittiest luck ever. I had 7 2 outers catch on me, no joke, among several other beats I managed to come back from. I then placed in the final 2 tables of 5 mtt's, only to fall short of the final table.

Two weeks ago on Sunday was however the turn around. I finished 7th in a 6 max tourney early in the day (grrrrr). I then played a few 18 player sng's and won a couple. By the time 1am rolled around, I had registered for the $3 3k guarantee. For the most part of the first 2 hours, I was short stacked, just trying to survive until the money. After the money bubble busted, I exploded, becoming chip leader for the majority of the tourney after it. After about 4 and a half hours, I was on the final 2 tables again. I was talking to a few friends on CardsChat, and I told them, "I will not bust before this final table." I was sick of coming up short, but this tourney ended my drought. I final tabled it, and owned the final table until we were 3 handed. It was not a matter of skill that killed me, I was light years ahead of both of the guys. It was plain luck. I had 66 on the button with about 700k chips. I raise to 60k (blinds 10/20k), sb calls bb folds. Flop comes 6 3 Q. Sb bets 100k, I raise to 315k, he calls. Turn brings antoher Q, which was also the third club on the board. I was confident he had either a set or a flush at this point, so after he checked I made a large bet and he pushed over the top and I insta call. He flips QJ for the set, and rivers a J. I was pissed, and only left with 20k chips, and was out a few hands later. 3rd place for $421 and only $3 invested is a good deal though, although I should have won :(

As for my bankroll now, it's almost time for me and my girlfriends 2 year anniversary, so I'm going to have to make a cashout. I'm probably going to leave myself with about $50 or so, which will be plenty of money for me to grind up the limits with. PokerStars Carribbean Adventure is coming up as well, so I'll definately be playing satties to it. Well thats about all I have to give updates on, sorry for not taking care of this thing :(

It's been a while since my last post, but I have a new goal!

Ok, so my last run with a bankroll did not go well. I was playing with $100 like I still had the $1k+ roll I had a few months ago. Needless to say, it didnt work out. I was not able to make the transistion from big roll to small roll, which is fine. I learned from it. A mistake I wont make again

So, onto my goal. I have a $3 roll right now, from winnings I made in the HU tourney off a stake. My goal is to turn that $3 into a sizeable roll. I fooled myself into thinking I could play cash games on my last run, so this time we'll go with what I'm good at, sng's and mtt's. I'm gonna play some cash games, but only to get my roll boosted up to where I can begin tourney play. No exact goals for my bankroll, because I want it to continue growing past any goal I can set. Well, thats it, thanks for reading my rant

Finally I'm back

I finally restarted my bankroll today! I'm starting out with $100 and will be grinding $5nl, probably starting out with 8 tables and building up from there. I hope I can turn the profit that several of my fellow CC members have, as they do say cash is the most profitable game. I guess we will soon see lol. Well thats all for now, just letting everybody know Inscore is back!

Good things to come on Thursday?

As most of you know, my deposit got delayed until this Thursday, so I've just been playin mostly CC games and a few real money games I was staked for. Tonight in the CC freeroll, I was completlely owning until I made a beautiful read/call and got pissed on for doing so. The next hand I got sucked out on again and elminated. The good thing is I finished 24th, which is one of my deepest finishes since my 2nd place in a $4 180 player. So I hope, well know, more will be coming in my next run at poker after I deposit. When or where, I have no idea. The simple fact is that they are coming. It's only a matter of time before I'm updating about them!

Almost deposit time :)

Well, I havent been playing serious poker for 2 or 3 weeks now, and it is now almost time for my deposit. I'm going to be starting out with $100. I hope I can grind the money up as I did last time, and continue the trend into a much higher bankroll. It will be between Friday and Monday, cant hardly wait!

My break so far

It's been going fairly well I guess. I've played a couple CC freerolls, some play money with Enty, and a single $1 mtt my friend Neil wanted me to play in. I'm happy that I've been able to stay away from playing a large amount of poker for the most part. All the games I have played really meant nothing to me except for fun, so I dont think they hurt anything.

I'm looking to re-deposit sometime in the next 2-4 weeks, so I'll be back to 20 tabling as soon as I can deposit. I'm going to put $150 on my account when I do, and start grinding $5NL, and play a few cheap mtt's here and there. Like I said before, sng's(except for a 180 player from time to time) are not going to be involved in my game anymore. I have found(like everybody told me before, but I chose not to listen) that cash games are where the profit is. I'm hoping I can build a nice bankroll with them, and hopefully go pro(far fetched I know) in the next 1 and a half to 2 years. Well I'm out of here, I need to get back to my day job lol

I'm through for a while

I'm not going to be playing poker for a while, except for a couple CC freerolls here and there. I am officially on my break. I cashed out all the money I had remaining in my account and am going to buy some games for my PS3, which I have been wanting to do for a while now.

The main reason I am taking a break is because I just started a new job, and I need some time to get settled into it. Right now, there is just no room for poker. I'll definately be coming back, and I WILL win more mtt's and hopefully make enough to consider playing poker for a living. Yes, I said it, I have hopes of becoming a pro. I know my stats are ugly as of now, but it will take time to turn them around. Well, thats all for now, until we meet again!

Running like God

The title of this entry cant explain it any better. Since yesterday, I'm up close to $40, by just playing $2nl and a little $5nl on 20 tables. I also won this total amount in maybe 3-4 hours. I'm hoping it's not just a heater that I'm on, and I'm just really good at full ring, but chances are heater lol. Either way, I'll definately take it for such a short amount of time at the lowest stakes on Stars.

I also decided to not go through with my break, as I do not have a lot to do for the time being. I'm still waiting to start my new job, so I'll be taking my break after I get it. So until then, I'll be grinding full ring games on 20 tables just hoping to continue this good run I am on :)

Working on my cash game

Lately I've found myself multi-tabling full ring cash games. I'm running 12-16 tables at a given time. Since I dont have a large roll right now, I'm only playing $2nl, buying in for $3, which gives me plenty of money to play this many tables. I am hoping to move up the limits to higher stakes cash games, but I do need a lot of practice. This morning I played around a 30 minute session on 16 tables and was up over $12, so I think I can make something here. I'm done with sng's for a while, they have become too much of a pain to me(except the 180 player sng's)

I'm also going to be taking about a week off from poker, because I need a break and am getting a new job so I'll need to get settled into my new schedule. While I'm on my break, I'll be studying cash games on CardsChat, reading hand histories, and all in all just getting a general feel for the game. A lot of the members at CC have moved to ring full time, and make quite a bit of money off it, so I'm hoping to do the same, moving from the bottom to the top!

Another rebuy

I actually ran pretty deep in this one though. After the rebuy/addon period I had a 16k stack, which put me in the top 200 for the hour. Second hour was fairly blan, adding only 5k more to my stack to be at 21k. After the second break is when things really picked up for me. I moved from 21k to over 80k at one point. I would like to go into detail of some of the hands I played, but the biggest was probably me having AK and hitting the A against a person with JT who had hit nothing...ya stupid play by him I know lol. Anyways that took me to around 60k, and I ground the rest of the stack. I wish things would have kept going this good for me after the next break, as I went completely card dead, and I wasnt even able to complete a successul steal in posistion. I dwindled down to around 55k-60k(dont remember exactly), which at the time it happened I was pretty well behind average. I caught AQs in the BB, raised to 15k and got one caller. Flop brought my A, and since the pot was so large compared to my stack, I decided to push. Villian called with 33, and a set :( My tourney was over. I finished 262 and got paid $31 and some change for my efforts, so not a complete loss

Moving on to other things, I will not be playing the Sunday 100k, either rebuy, or any other tourney until around 12am as I will be out doing things for most of the day. I also probably will not be playing the rebuy again for a few days, just because I've played it for three days in a row and want a break from it. Well thats it for now, be sure to check back

What a bad day

I'm not sure of the exact number of tournaments and sng's I played, but what I am sure of is that I cashed none of them. I havent had a day like this in a while. It seems like nothing was working for me, no matter what I did. I even chip lead one sng from about 16 people left til the bubble. Guess who was the bubble boy? Yeah, me. I hope to get things turned around for next weeks tourneys, I'm going for two divisions on the sng leaderboard and I want a couple more deep runs in mtt's. Well, thats enough whining for now, I'm out

Good couple days

Havent been blogging lately, but honestly, I havent had a lot to write about. I cashed out another $200, so I'm working with around a $200 roll for the time being. I've been cashing several tourneys the past couple days as well. I've cashed 4 NLHE tourneys, and a HORSE tourney. I finished deep in 3/5 cashes, but still looking for another final table. The way I've been playing the past couple days, I am expecting to make one very soon!

I will be keeping this blog more up to date(hopefully lol) from here on. I feel like the very few of you that do read this blog have been cheated, and I'm going to begin making more entries again.

Man how I missed the micros....not

God, I forgot how TERRIBLE the play is at these limits. I've been sucked out on so many times already by hands that shouldnt have even been played. K8 beating my KK, J3 beating QQ, so on and so forth. It's been a bad expierience so far, the only thing that makes me happy about it is my PS3 comes in tomorrow :D

I'll eventually get back in the groove of the micro stakes, and grind back up, but man it sucks being back here

Taking a drop in stakes

But not because of a downswing or anything of that nature. I cashed out a fairly large sum of money today to buy some stuff I wanted/needed. First my want, I bought a PS3 today, which will arrive on Monday! I'm really excited about getting it, however I'm going to be renting games for it for a little while lol. Next, I bought a wireless router for my laptop. I have been using a mobile thing from the cell phone company, but it's too expensive and too unreliable for the price. My router will be here Tuesday. Finally, the last thing I bought was a desperate need, as my PC has a major virus on it and has not been running good at all. So I bought an antivirus program, because none of the free stuff or stuff on my PC was taking care of it. It's a lot of money out of my roll, but it's all for good stuff lol

I'm going to have a $140 roll left to work with, which is plenty of money to start over. I plan on grinding $1 sng's and mtt's again as I did before. The thing I'm not sure of however is if I want to have my money on Stars or Tilt, I'll be making that decision soon though. All in all, I'm very happy I was able to spend some of my poker money on this stuff, especially considering I never made a deposit and the real money came from all the play money I sold. I'm basicly getting all this stuff for free lol

Man I'm Lazy

I havent updated in we'll just say, forever lol. I've just had so much other stuff going on that I have not had time to. To sum things up since my last blog entry, I made a lot of money and lost a lot of money, but still have a great bankroll to work with, especially considering it was at $60 from selling play chips a month and a half ago. I have made a full transistion of my roll from Stars to Full Tilt, just because I needed a change for a while. It will not be permanent, I will still be playing on both sites, but the majority of my play will be on Tilt, especially with the Mini Series of Poker starting. Thats about it for now, I'm going to start giving my blog more attention from now on!

Another Final Table!

Just a week after my first nlhe mtt win, I was in great posistion to do it a second time! Although the result was not as good as the first, I won almost as much money and placed second to a very good player in heads up. This time the tournament was on Full Tilt, after I had a friend transfer me $10 over to the site so I could play the $2 and $1 rebuys. I a deep run in the $2 rebuy, before losing to a bad beat. The $1 rebuy however, it seemed I could not lose chips. The field consisted of 558 players. My game started to go into high gear when My QJ caught a straight on the flop. After that I pretty much steam rolled to the final table, having the chip lead for a while as well. When the final table did start, I was on a short stack, but that did not last for long. I doubled up to 550k when my AK stood up against an AJ, then went over a million on this hand: I'm dealt 99 and raise to 48k from MP. The CO re-raises to 100k and I make the call. Flop comes 6 2 4 rainbow. I bet 125k and he calls. Turn Q. I check he bets something like 150k and I call. River another Q, I check, he pushes. I sit back and wait for a little bit, and decide he is on AK and make the call. Sure enough, AK is what he was holding, and I took down over a 1 million chip pot and leave him crippled. Things went slow for a while after that, but I reached heads up after I knocked two players out in the same hand when my 77 caught a set. HU went back and forth steadily for about 20 minutes, with both of us having over a million chips. He finally caught the upper hand and was able to knock me out.

I'm very happy with my play, two final tables in one week is no easy task. I got a nice cash out of this tournament, and had a good time playing it. Here is the screen shot, I'll see all of you later!

Back to Reality

Yesterday's great day has been followed by one of my lesser showings. I'm only down 4 buy-ins from $5 sng's, but I sure as heck ran bad today. I did get heads up in one 18 player sng, but was not able to take it down. All the other games I played went dry, and I'm down about $20 on the day. Not a big deal at all at these stakes, I wouldnt even to begin to worry about a losing streak until about $70-$80 in the hole. I'm still happy, my roll is still above $300, so plenty of room to go back to work tomorrow night and the weekend. Hopefully I'll have a late night tourney to report on tomorow night or Saturday morning, but until then I'll see you all later!

Big Day Today!

Well, after a few games that I played today I am up almost $80! I placed 1st in an 18 player sng for $36, then played a couple without cashing them. I then played the $3.30 HORSE tourney, but with no luck in it either. I then placed 2nd in a 45 player sng for almost $50, then finished 2nd in the 3rd round of the $2.20 Quintuple shootout for almost $16. I am very happy with my play today, it seemed like I could not miss. I love it when days like this come, and hopefully I'll hit a few more!

I Finally Did It

I got my first No Limit Hold'em tournament win today. It could not have came at a better time for me, I was struggling with my bankroll and was down to around $20. This win puts me over $317!!! I was pretty much dominating every table I played at after there were 200 players left, and was well above average going into the final table. I knocked out 7 players during the course of the final table, and hardly lost any chips at all. When heads up started, I had a 10 to 1 chip advantage. I raised on the button with A7o and he pushed with QJ. The board brought all blanks, and I won the pot and the tournament! I fully intend on following bankroll management from here on out, I almost lost everything with not following it, and I'm going to consider this my second chance. Well I'm out, here is a picture of the tournament lobby!!!

Sick with myself

Well, I preach, preach, and preach brm, and I have yet to follow it. I had a very nice bankroll going from where I started and I have lost all my winnings plus more. At this point I'm just hoping I can salvage my roll. I thought about just entering some big tourneys this weekend, but decided after my bust in the CCOP that my entire roll was not worth it, as I would not be able to play at all. So, I'm going to play NOTHING except $1 sng's until I can afford to play .02/.05 again. I know I can beat the 18 player sng's, and thats pretty much all I will be playing. I'm sick with myself for letting this happen, and it wont happen again

End of Week Update and Next Week's Goals

I think I did great for a short week of work, being up almost $40 for the week. Most of this is cash game profit as I did not really play any sng's, and did not get deep in many tournaments. I have began 8 tabling .02/.05 nlhe, which has brought my profit up quite a bit. Overall, I am very satisfied with my week of work.

For next this coming week, my goals are to continue 8 tabling .02/.05 and showing a profit, cash an mtt, and win the sng leaderboard. I know I have the skill to win the leaderboard, I just have to have a little bit of luck on my side as well to be able to do it. I'll see you all when I decide to make another update!

Havent been updating like I should

I'm putting a change to that right now lol. I played an 8 table cash session after I got home from work today and went down about $18. I was pretty mad about that so I stopped. I then had the CardsChat $3 buy-in tourney today, and I took 4th in it for $25, so I was back at $144 where I started lol. I then played another 8 table cash session, and brought in $18 more! Great session for me, everything was clicking. I'm going to post goals for the week and month this Sunday, and give a summary of my week, so check back then!

Damn Comcast

I seriously hate the assholes, my bill is past due and they only cut the internet off. Why, I have no clue. I would much rather have the cable and movie channels cut off, but they take the net. Just makes no sense, especially since I was going to pay the damn bill by using the internet. Oh well, it's back on, and I am ready to play some poker. My only goal for this week is to not lose any money lol, I'll start making goals again in May, but my goal of $75 for April was easily met as I have around $130 right now. Feels good to be blogging again lol

Found a New Game

Well, sort of atleast lol. I put in my first cash game session since I sold my play chips, and did fairly well doing so. I was 5 tabling .02/.05 6-max for about 400 hands and am now up $12, with my total bankroll at $117. I know that this is probably a little upswing, but I did discover cash is really not boring when you multi table. This is definately going to become a bigger part of my tourney play, but by no means am I giving up on my tourneys. This is probably the last blog entry until my end of week report, unless something big happens between now and then lol. Later everybody!

Sunday 100k 4-20-08

Today's 100k went fairly well for me, I was actually able to make the money this week! The whole tournament was a complete roller coaster for me however, which does not suit my style of play at all. It seems like I would get up, take a hit, and then double up. That process repeated a few times. Every time I was dominating a hand, I lost. Likewise, everytime I was the underdog, I won. Just one of those days I guess lol. It finally settled down near the bubble, but I was very short stacked at this time. I decided to only play premium hands until after the bubble, and it paid off for me. Shortly after the bubble, I moved in with Q7s when I had 2 BB's left. I hit top pair, but lost to a straight. It was a fun tourney overall, and gave me a sense of accomplishment by making it through that many people to cash. I won $22.50, which is $20 profit for me because I was in off of a $2 satelite. This boosts my roll back over $100, so I did meet one goal I had for the week lol. Well I'm out, take care everybody!

End of the week summary

Well, I did not meet either goal I set at the begining of the week, but I am still doing good on my original goal of the month, which is maintaining a $75 dollar bankroll. I have $86 dollars in my account right now, so I'm ahead of where I set my goal for now. My other goal was to place high in the sng leaderboard again, but that did not happen either. I had a pretty crappy week of tourneys, and all around play for that matter. Things did pick up near the end of the week however, as I won a couple 18 player sng's and cashed a few others. No goals for the coming week, except to do well in the 100k tourney on Stars tomorrow afternoon. I'll be giving a tourney report on it after it's over, so be sure to check back if you want to know how everything is going!

From Good to Bad

Bit of a downswing the past couple days, I'm not sure how much I have lost, but I assure you it is nothing totally major. Just frustrated I can't seem to win these past couple days, but it will change, just ugly ol' variance. Did very well in the CardsChat buy-in tourney today, barely missed the final table, and definitely my own fault for not making it. Played some stupid hands, and got exactly what I deserved for doing it. Well, I'm taking Tues. off and starting fresh on Wed, I'm going to finish the current sng leaderboard block I am on, and immediately start a new one because this one is flat out horrible lol. Well I'm out everybody, good luck on your tables!

Goals for this week

I thought I would write about my goals for the coming week. This week, I finished 38th on the sng low orbit leaderboard, which pays $10. This coming week, I want a top 30 finish, which pays $20, or better yet a to 10 finish, or even a win, which pays $150. I'm gonna try my best to get the top score, I honestly should have had it this week, I just made one too many mistakes in my play. Another goal of mine is simply to keep my bankroll above $100, and continue to follow my bankroll management guidelines. I'm going to try to satelite into the 100k tomorrow, and an in the money finish would be cool in that event. Wish me luck on my goals for this week, I'm confident I can meet them!

Deepstack and sng reports

Well, I made it 4 hours into the deepstack tourney, only to finish 300 and something, and win no money at all. My sng's went ok, I wanted to do better so I could win more money from my leaderboard finish, which right now looks like I'm gonna be around 40th place, winning another $10. I also cleared my $20 bonus, so after today my bankroll will be right at $100. Not much else to say, I'm taking the rest of the day off, and I might try to satelite into the 100k tomorrow.

Breaking a Bankroll Mangement Guideline(with good reason)

Well, I have a $81 bankroll right now, and I am going to play the $11 deepstack tourney today. I'm only doing this because I have a $20 bonus coming that I am guaranteed to recieve, and at least $10 in sng leaderboard prize money coming. I am excited about the deepstack, as it looks like a fun tourney to play. I also have a realistic shot at taking down this weeks Mercury sng leaderboard prize, which is $150. I have 5 games left in my low orbit, with 442 points right now. I want to bump that up to at least over 500 points, hopefully over 611(which is what the leader has right now lol). It looks like it's going to be a good day for my bankroll, so wish me luck with all the games I am playing today!

Pretty good day

When I started playing today, I had $57 in my roll, now it's up to $70! I've won two 18 player sng's, and placed 2nd in another. I think I placed another one, but forget if it was a 3rd or 4th place finish. Mtt's did not go very well tonight, I busted out fairly early in all three that I played tonight. I'm happy with my progress today, I couldnt ask for much better. I'm also 12 fpp's away from a $20 bonus, so that will do a lot for my bankroll as well when I get it. Thats it for now, thanks for reading!

First 2 Days of Real Money Play

I can't complain, but I was hoping for a little bit more out of it. I've played really well, just havent scored really huge. I've played three $1 mtt's, and several $1 sng's. Last night I stopped playing with $61 in my roll, tonight it's $57. Not a bad swing at all I dont think. I was really hoping for a big score tonight in one of my $1 mtt's. I made it into the money, but found myself shortstacked later on. I was in the BB and the SB pushes, and I call because it was only 400 more chips. I flop a set of 10's, but villian has a set of 10's with a higher kicker. I finished 233 out of about 2300. Not bad, but was really hoping for a deeper run. I then played some sng's, but lost in most I played, putting my roll down to $50, but then I won a 18 player sng for $7, which brings my total to $57.38. Well, more updates to come soon!

I Threw in the Towel

But I have a nice bankroll for doing so. I just got to the point where I was sick and fed up with play money, so I sold 5m today for a nice $60. I plan on following strict bankroll management with this money, and not playing anything over my limits(unless I satelite in). For the most part it will be low limit cash and tourneys for a while. I have my first MTT coming up in an hour or so, so maybe I can do something big with my roll in it, wish me luck!

Horrible Play Money Swings

I've been stuck between 5 and 6m for the past 2 weeks. It seems every time I get near 6m, I fall right back to 5m and maybe a little below. Then I'll come back up a little, then right back down. It certainly has not been fun, and is not helping me get anywhere near my goal. I am having to fight myself hard not to sell the 5m and take $60, but I know if I stick through this it will be so much better for me. So, I am not going to give up. I know this is variance, so I'm positive with my skill level that I will get back on the up and up soon. How soon, I have no clue. But I know I will reach my goal, I'm too good not to make it. Well thats it for now, be sure to come back!

Taking a Short Break

Well, I have lost in every tourney I played today, so I think I'm gonna take a short break until the weekend. This will get my mind off of getting the 10m, and get me relaxed at the same time. I also dont care to take the couple days off, because I'm already going to miss out on the CardsChat event, so I am in absolutely no hurry to get it done right now. I just hope to have it done sometime this month. Right now I'm still hovering between 5.5m and 6.2m. There seems to be some kind of wall I cant jump over, so maybe when I'm a little refreshed I will be able to make it. Thanks for reading, check back later!

Deadline Suspended

Well, it turns out that putting a deadline on my goal really made things hard on me, as I was concentrating more on getting chips fast than playing good poker and having a steady rise. Glad I made this mistake on the play money tables instead of the real money though. I'm not going to put another deadline on this, as it messes up my play, but I would like to have it finished sometime by next weekend, so I can play the CardsChat team event that is going on right now. My roll has been going back and forth between 5.5m and 6.3m the past 2 nights, and its all because I'm playing one sng after another. I'm just going to slow down, and take it easy for a little bit. If I dont have the chips cashed in by this weekend and dont get to play the first round of the team event, so be it. I just want to get this goal of 10m accomplished so I can begin to turn a real profit on the tables. Thats all for now, be sure to check back later!

The Deadline Is Not Looking Good

Well, after I cracked the 5m mark, I set a goal of having all the chips in my account by around 8pm Sunday. Its 2:31am on Saturday morning, and I only have around 5.5m. I hit the 6m mark in what was close to an all night session yesterday, but have had a downswing today, dropping as low as 5.1m. I would like to be somewhere near over the 7m by the time I am ready to go to sleep. All hope is not lost on the deadline though. I still have all day and night today and all day tomorrow. If I do not meet the deadline, I will probably put in another all night session Sunday. I do want to be grinding $5NL sometime this week, because I am flat out sick of play money. Any of you out there reading this that might think it is easy to gain all these chips, I challenge you to try it yourself. You will find that reaching 10m is definately an accomplishment, as it takes a lot of hours, hands, and tourneys played. I've been at this for about 3 weeks now, and I'm still just over half way. Well I'm done for now, my next entry will probably tell all of you if I made the deadline or not. Lets hope I do so I can be playing real money and giving real bankroll updates in the near future. If I do not reach the deadline, I will just continue my grind, and set a new deadline of Thursday. Well to all my loyal readers, this is Inscore, over and out

Half Way to 10m, Making Another Goal

Well last night while playing the play money sng's, I finally cracked the 5 million chip mark, which puts me half way to my goal! With that said, I'm setting a new goal to get this done. I want to have the 10 million chips in my account by Sunday before WrestleMania starts. Its a really big task, but I want to get this finished. If I can continue the run I have been having lately, it can be done though. Last night, I racked up over 1.3 million, and that was just from playing a few before I went to bed. I'm planning on putting in some long sessions today, Friday, and all through the weekend. If all goes well, I will be giving real money reports on Monday. Wish me luck on this everybody, I'm gonna need a little of it!

Back to Play Money

Well, after posting some hand histories on CardsChat, I have discovered I have several leaks in my game, none of which I will be posting here lol :P I'm heading back to the play money tables to work on these problems, and also to continue the climb to 10 million play chips. I'm not going to be playing anymore real money, except for maybe the CC game, until I have reached my goal of 10m and have a good bankroll. The reason for this is that I simply do not feel comfortable putting money on the line with all the problems I have discovered in my game. I'm going to work on all the points that have been given to me, and hopefully in the end it will all pay off. I just wanted to give a quick update, see you all later!

CardsChat Buy-in, 3-24-08

Well like I said in my last entry, I started the day with a little over 20 cents in my Stars account. I will probably end my day with $16 in my account! I placed 4th in the $1.10 CardsChat buy-in event today for $15.30. 53 people entered, and it was a really good and challenging game. The final table was full of regulars and a pro, so I think I did fairly well. It finally came down to me needing to push the first decent hand I got, and that came with 8 9 suited. Dj called me with A 4, and caught trip aces. I'm out, but if I was going to lose to anybody I would prefer it to be Dj. He went on to win the entire tournament as well. Well just because I have a bankroll with money in it now, it does not mean that I am going to stop playing play chip games and get to 10 million. I've gone too far on that project to just give up on it now, so the quest continues! I'll probably play one of the late night tournaments tonight, so there might be one more tourney report before the day is over. So until we meet again, take it easy!

Working With a Little Change

Well, I realized that I had a little over 20 cents in my Stars account, so I hit the .02/.04 fixed limit holdem tables today. About 15 minutes later, I had $1.45, so I registered for the $1.10 Pot Limit 6 max hold'em event. I did manage to make the money, but then my queens lost to pocket 8's when he rivered a straight, so I lost almost all of my stack. I was all in the next hand and eliminated. The cash was good though, I now have $1.95 in my account, $1.10 of which is going right back into the CardsChat buy-in event today. I cant wait for this tournament, it has $100 added to the prize pool and only a field of around 40-45, which I do extremely well in. For now though, I'll probably enter a few more play money games and work on that some more. As of right now, I have 4 million play chips in my account, over 40% of the way to my goal. Well thats all for now, I'll probably give an update after the CardsChat tournament. Be sure to check back later everybody!

Sunday 100k, 3-23-08

First off, the admin sent all the players this message:

Administrator: Welcome, everyone! You are now playing in the largest tournament (in terms of field size) in poker history, online or offline! Best of luck to each of you!

It's pretty cool knowing you are part of poker history, weather you cash or not lol. I'm just going to write this entry as I play, so just keep checking back every now and then. I will probably write on my breaks. As of right now, I am just a little above my starting stack of 3k after about 40 minutes of play. Not a lot going on right now

First break: Only one big hand during the first hour, I was getting short stacked and I reraised a loose player for all my chips with AJ, and he turns over kings. Luckily, an ace comes on the flop and he doesnt improve. Thats really all thats going on up til the first break, and right now I'm sitting at about 4.3k chips

No farther than half way through the second hour. It was pretty much the same as the first, absolutely no cards. The only difference was MUCH higher blinds, which did a lot of damage to my stack. I finally found myself with pocket 7's, the best cards I had seen since my first double up. So I pushed my last 3k, only to be called by 9's. Game over. It was fun, definately a tournament I wouldnt mind playing regularly once I have a bankroll. Thanks for reading everybody!

Won a seat in the Sunday 100k

Well, I dont really know what it is, but for some strange reason I wanted to play this today. So I entered an FPP satelite, and I won my seat! I'm really excited about getting off the play money tables and having a chance at winning some huge cash. I hope there is a reason for me having the urge to play this today, it might just be my day to win! Anyways, I will give a tournament report after I finish playing it, so check back later!

Down at the Play Money Tables

As the title says, I have taken a beating at the play money tables today. Down from 3.5m to 2.8m today. This is the worst day I have had since begining the race to 10m, losing over 700k. It seems that every time I had a strong hand, and thought I was getting in with the best of it, I was wrong and lost. I know however that this is a normal part of the game, and can even happen to decent players at the play money tables. Variance can suck! It could have been a lot worse however, I could had lost a lot more than I did if I did not quit when I did. Oh well, guess its back to the grind tomorrow, hope I can pick up my losses and get back on path to 10m. Until next time, take care!

Another Long and Tired Day

Today was not much better than yesterday, if fact I was even more worn out today. The rest of the week should flow fairly smoothly though, as it always does after I get to bed early on Tuesday. Added a little over 150k to my play chip account, not a good day by any means, especially compared to yesterday's 1 mil. But I guess that's play money variance, I can only win 90% of the time lol. I know I just wasted all of your time by having you read this, but I just don't have a lot to write about today. Actually, the only reason I am writing is because I am making it a point to keep my blog updated regularly. Well until your eyes find my page again, I bid you farewell

A Blah Kind of Day

Yep, it's just one of those days where you dont feel like doing anything. I was worn out all day, I guess my own fault for staying up too late last night. I made it through the day and immediatly came home for a nap. I watched a little tv after that, and then hopped on Stars to continue building my play money roll. I only played two 80k sng's today, one a 9 player, the other a 27 player. I won the 9 player for 360k, and finished 2nd in the 27 player for about 600k, so about a million chips won from the only two tourneys I played today. All in all, not bad for the hour of work I put into it. This boosts my total play money roll to about 3.2 million, so I'm a little bit ahead of the plans I had on how long it would take to reach the 10 mil. Hopefully very soon, I will be back in the real money sng and mtt grind, and making good money while I'm doing it. Thats pretty much my day, after the poker tourneys I watched wrestling, checked CardsChat, and then I'm here writing before I go to sleep. Well to all my fans out there(lol, jk), I will wish you all a good night and a good day tomorrow, take care!

10 Million Play Chip Race

Alright, so a person who takes the time to make a blog about his poker play is playing in games for play money, whats up with that? Actually, in the past I have had an awful time following bankroll management guidelines, and have gone broke fairly quickly. It seemed like I did not value the money like I should have. So one day on CardsChat.com, I was reading a thread about selling play chips for money. At first, like many others, I did not believe it. Then I did some research(me doing research, go figure), and it turned out to be legit. Turns out, I can get anywhere from $100-$120 for 10 million play chips. I am choosing to go this route for two reasons:

1. I don't have the money to deposit right now, and I want to play some real poker

2.So I have a better appreciation of my money, and actually manage it properly.

I feel that after the hard work it will take to get to 10 million, I will manage it so strictly that it will take a horrendous down swing to make me go broke again. And being broke again is a feeling that I do not want to have ever again.

I am currently sitting at 2.3 million play chips, about a quarter of the way to my goal, I will keep everybody posted on my progress!

Whats up?

Hey, whats good everybody? My name is Aaron Inscore, and this is my poker blog! Welcome! About me, well its not really difficult. First off I'm 19 years old, and live in a small town in the eastern corner of Tennessee called Greeneville. I have a beautiful girlfriend that I have been with for about 2 years, she is amazing. I am the biggest Georgia Bulldog fan you will ever meet. Football, basketball, and any other sport they televise, if UGA is playing, I am watching. Same goes for the Tennessee Titans. I am also a huge wrestling fan, and can talk about it for hours at a time. I love to play poker, which is the reason I have the blog. I'm not the best in the world at it, even though sometimes I think I am, but who hasnt had that feeling? But I do try, and feel that the way I am going I will have a nice online bankroll one of these days. If you want to play with me, here are my screen names:

Well I guess I have bored all of you readers long enough, my next entry will actually be about something important lol, my poker play. As we southern hillbillys like to say, Ya'll come back now, ya hear?
